State DOTs make considerable use of non proprietary systems such as weak post W beam, low tension three strand cable barrier, and box beam. Although some barrier testing was performed during the development of the updated criteria, many barrier systems and other roadside safety features had yet to be evaluated under the proposed guidelines. Therefore, evaluation of the remaining widely used roadside safety features using the safety performance evaluation guidelines included in the update to NCHRP Report 350 MASH was needed. RESEARCH OBJECTIVE The objective of this project was to evaluate the safety performance of widely used nonproprietary roadside safety features by using MASH. Features recommended for evaluation included longitudinal barriers excluding bridge railings; terminals and crash cushions; transitions; and breakaway supports. Evaluation methods included, but were not limited to, engineering assessment, simulation, full scale crash testing, pendulum testing, and component testing. Where practical, cost effective modifications to systems that do not meet the new criteria were recommended for future evaluation. 113 Accomplishment of the project objective required the following tasks. Task Description 1 Identify Non Proprietary Roadside Safety Features and Frequency of Use by State DOTs 2 Review All Applicable Information and Create Matrix 3 Prepare and Submit Interim Report 4 Meet with Project Panel 5 Execute Work Plan 6 Submit Final Report This Final Report documents the performance of Tasks 1 through 6. 214 II. STATE OF THE PRACTICE Task 1 Identify Non Proprietary Roadside Safety Features and Frequency of Use by State DOTs Identify non proprietary roadside safety features and their frequency of use by state DOTs.

I so agree with you, Jake, that values 'caught' in the hidden curriculum make it as equally important as the planned curriculum of schools. I also agree with what you said that these values are needed if we are to build stronger and most importantly, humane institutions that will craft the society.

Next time, if we have opportunity to control another discussion, we would consider carefully peoples background before choosing topic. This can avoid discussing by one sided. Friends and Parents are topic that our class discussed with Kacie and Jasmin last Thursday. Two leaders had a great presentation, they given six questions, each person managed three questions to discuss with class, which made classmates did not feel boring. The topic was also familiar with our life so most of people in class participated and responded aggressively. Everyone in class agreed that both friends and parents affected our life. Parents will affect us when we are young and friends will influence our life when are mature. When we are mature, we have a lot of new friends and often spend much time on school and outdoor activities, event several people do not live with their parents. This makes us did not have much time in family to talk with parents so parents will less influence our life when we are mature. A modern day recreation of this remedy seems to alleviate infections caused by the bacteria that are usually responsible for styes. The work might ultimately help create drugs for hard to treat skin infections. The project was born when Freya Harrison, a microbiologist at the University of Nottingham, UK, got talking to Christina Lee, an Anglo Saxon scholar. They decided to test a recipe from an Old English medical compendium called Balds Leechbook, housed in the British Library. Some of the ingredients, such as copper from the brass vessel, kill bacteria grown in a dish but it was unknown if they would work on a real infection or how they would combine.
